First Pumpkins

Well, the first pumpkins I found for sell in my area is at Home Depot. They even beat my local supermarket ( Though I have not been to Walmart in a few days by the way) and roadside stands. But what really surprised me was their selection and how everything was displayed. They had corn stalks which I have NEVER seen available down here. Man, are they cool looking. The stalks cost about $7.50, I was told. I made another crying baby face....

They carry ceramic jackos
9 bucks if I recall

and these jacko plant pots...

Walgreens

Walgreens stopped carrying the realistic resin skull when I checked them out the other day. And they switched it out with the hollow plastic kind. Dang.

And this is the face I made....

Ahhhh....

Its a nice day when you leave work early, have a beer, check out Pumpkinrot's Blog, and the wife comes home and gives you a pumpkin cookie. ;)

Coffin Mold & Pine Needles

This guy's been outside for the last year. Every year the coffin looks better n' better.

The Experiment

So one of my biggest concerns this year with the haunt is the vey bright street light at the end of my driveway. While in the past I tried to work around it, I felt like it was time to address it and solve it. I didn't want to totally turn it off or cover it like people have suggested to me or by means of what I read out there (for safety reasons of course), So I took a large sheet of cardboard and cut slit into it then slide a 10' 1 x 2  piece wood into it like a giant protest sign. I held it up to the light while my wife took the picture of the driveway. I'm happy with how it blocked out the light on the driveway. Sweet! I plan on having the driveway be lit with ambient light so this is awesome. Now I have to figure out how to block it out easily for 3 or 4 hours. No worries...

Week end stuff

So on my days off, I thought I would go in the woods and take the two scarecrows from last year and recycle them into the haunt. But they where wedged too tight on their branches, it wasn't worth it wrestling them down. They are meant to be free.

Then I went to Spirit to check out their stuff. Only took a couple of pics since so many people post pics. It seems like every year, I buy less and less from them. I'm not into the animatronic stuff and a lot of their props are way overpriced. But I did walk away with a couple of gravestones to build the graveyard collection.
Cool bird feeder

I like this old school paper skelly
Then went next door to Old Time Pottery. Heres a cool Halloween tree they set up.

this little guy reminds me of the creepy old man ghost in Poltergeist 2
"You all are gonna die!"

My Spirit purchase
Then after a rain that cooled things down, I started dragging out the graveyard fence to make repairs.

Spider Dog

I'd crap my pants if I saw this coming toward me at night!

Prop making Sneek Peek

And some pics of my nosey neighbors.

This is why I have to work with the garage door closed and sweat my ass off. Just because the garage door is up doesn't mean I want you to walk up and "chit chat" with me. Especially when I'm wearing headphones and my hands are covered with glue and you want to ask me why I do all this work for Halloween.  I really need a basement.  Or air-condition my garage.
Been going on for years and just had to vent.....
