Halloween 2018

The Haunter and Mr. Twitch...
That's my loosely thrown together theme for this year. I got a late start on putting everything together and with the heat- oh the heat! The Pumpkin man scarecrow was a big hit with neighbors and all.  Made from saved prop items such as a Funkin, an old wool coat, gloved stick hands, a pillow, Tay's old uniform vest and a sombrero with the brim flipped down.  Lately, I've been into using pillows as bellies for scarecrows.  He was to be a pre-halloween display and I was going to transform him on the 31st. But, I kept him as is. So many scarecrow ideas, so little time, right? The haunter in the chair is a corpsed skelly  from years ago. I dragged down the Count the day before and gave him one last run since he is starting to peel. As I was putting things up, I was thinking of a story for fun. A yard haunter who invited his new creepy neighbor to help him with the haunt and ended up being a part of it. A haunt about a vampire who turned a haunter into a haunt. How avant-garde! So the messy workbench, corpse in the garbage can, chipped tombstones, bloody mailbox- all signs that someone strange moved in.
Getting pics was a challenge. My phone is jacked up and sometimes doesn't want to take pics. If I use filters, it will revert them the next day. So I use my glass jar lid trick a lot to be artsy. Any filters used and I take a screen shot of the pic. There are many more pics over on instagram so please check them out. Now the fun part. Putting everything away and trying to organize the garage. Happy Halloween!

Rot Style “1922” Tin Can lanterns

I made these around last December I think. They have been hanging in the backyard since then. Finally got around to lighting them. Old roots and sticks attached to soup cans that were inspired by Pumpkinrot’s “1922” Halloween Haunt. Just a fun experiment....

Shrunken Apple Head Sculpt

Made a shrunken apple head sculpt inspired by the old Vincent Price kit artwork. Instead of casting it in latex or resin, I used gelatine. You can melt gelatine,  cast, and pull a casting in under an hour. It comes out of the mold flexible but will shrink and dry out in a week or more. But still larger than real apples when they shrink ,like the two next to it.

Spider

Working outside I get used to many things crawling on me. Today this guy decided to base jump off the brim of my hat and dangle right in front of my eyes. He is kind of cool looking for a spider....

Grandpa's pants scarecrow

Been wanting to do this for a while. Inspired by Pumpkinrot's work, haunt, and fascination with vintage Halloween. Building a full-size scarecrow can get cumbersome when taking out to a location. This is small scale scarecrow around 26" tall. The bucket head is a small herb container and the shirt is a thrift store baby shirt. The pants are made out of  a dog food bag. I was scrounging around when I didn't want to go back to the thrift store. I definitely want to make more...
